Between 13-14 million, with most being in the U.S. or Israel
What are the branches of Judaism?
Reform,Orthodox,and Conservative are the main ones in the U.S.
What is the role of Women?
Women are viewed as separate, but still equal.
What are the views on the afterlife?
It is not specific, and it leaves room for personal opinion, but they do believe in an afterlife.
What is the Holy Book?
There are 3-the Torah, the Talmud, and the Tanakh.
Some Jewish Holidays
- Yom Kippur -Day of Atonement, made to cleanse soul
- Hannukah- 8 days commemorating the lamp that kept burning for 8 days on 1 day's oil
- Purim- commemorates a time when Jews were living in Persia and were saved from extermination
- Passover-commemorating the Exodus from Egypt
- Rosh Hashanah- the new year for the purpose of counting years
